The school started as Kindergarten in 1948 with only expatriate pupils until 1972 when the sisters requested from the Government of Zambia to offer education to the Zambian children. So the school was just offering primary Education until 1990 when it enrolled the first Grade 8. In the same year, we embarked on upgrading the primary school by building the Laboratories that become functional in 1994 and were used by the first Grade 12s. Most of the help that the school received came from ZCCM, Zambia Air ways and other big companies that existed on the Copperbelt. The school follows the Zambian Education System. The sisters work in conjunction with the parent Teachers association who help to supplement the efforts of the sisters through holding of the fundraising activities. St. John Convent School, house pupils from Nursery to Grade 12 and hence the need to be whole embracing. School programmes are made in line with the catholic doctrine, Prayer before any activity, Mass once a week and catechism classes are also conducted for children who wish to be baptised and receive holy communion. The school is purely private, that is the very monies that come is as fees is used to pay salaries, maintain the school, the auxiliary staff and the Sisters. The school prepares the children from Nursery to Grade 12 to be responsible citizens of the future society. Welcome and feel at home. “The work is God’s. I am His worker; God began it. For God I shall continue it; “ God wanted that work done; He obliged me to do it ; He will provide.” St. Alfonso Maria Fusco.
